English learners have specific social and emotional needs that need to be met for them to be successful in a virtual learning environments. In this webinar, ISA coach Stephanie Grasso discussed these needs and presented several effective ways that teachers and schools can best support these students in classrooms, face to face, virtually, and on a schoolwide level. Additionally, she presented best practices that focus on creating an asset mindset—how teachers can build on knowledge that English learners bring to classrooms—in order to engage students successfully in the content.

Joining Stephanie to share her experiences in teaching virtually was Angela Manzolillo, who teaches new English learners at the Brooklyn Lab School in Brooklyn, NY. Brooklyn Lab is a long-time ISA partner school.
