Vera joined ISA as a social studies coach in 2018. She has a long and varied career as a teacher and administrator with the Philadelphia School District, museum educator, curriculum consultant, presenter of professional development workshops, and afterschool leader with the Free Library of Philadelphia. At the Philadelphia School District, Vera also managed the Philadelphia School District’s Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs. She has forged relationships with a number of history and cultural institutions in Philadelphia and is an active supporter of National History Day. As a coach, Vera enjoys helping teachers work with their students to increase the relevancy of content connections to their lives by employing teaching strategies that enhance students’ engagement level and academic performance.
