Gerrelyn Chunn Patterson joined ISA as a literacy and ELA coach in 2017. She earned a BA in English Literature from North Carolina Central University, a MEd in English Education from the University of Virginia, and a PhD in Curriculum, Culture and Change from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She has more than 18 years of P-12 and post-secondary experience as a literature and composition instructor and teacher educator. She has taught undergraduate and graduate methods courses, with an emphasis on instructional planning and classroom management, to pre-service teachers. She also conducts research in best practices with instructional strategies and the utilization of service-learning pedagogy to prepare culturally responsive teachers.
